Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What’s the best way to brew Awaido teas?

Each tea comes with specific brewing instructions. Generally, we recommend using soft water, controlling water temperature carefully, and pouring to the last drop to enjoy the full flavor. Second and third infusions are also recommended.

Can I drink these teas cold?

Absolutely! Especially IRO and KUAN are excellent cold-brewed or served over ice. Chilling brings out a new depth and elegance in flavor.

Are Awaido teas caffeinated?

Yes, though amounts vary. SUMI and IRO contain moderate caffeine, while KUAN is low in caffeine and perfect for relaxing evenings.

Where are the tea leaves from?

All Awaido teas are sourced directly from Japan, primarily from tea farms in Shizuoka and surrounding areas.

Are your teas organic?

Not all are certified organic, but we work with farms that use sustainable and chemical-free cultivation practices to ensure quality and purity.

What is “mizudashi” (cold brew) tea, and why should I try it?

Cold brew tea is a method of steeping tea leaves in cold water for several hours, resulting in a smooth, refreshing flavor with less bitterness and lower caffeine. It’s a great way to enjoy our teas, especially in warm weather or as a hydrating, healthy drink.

How long can I store my tea once opened?

For the best flavor, we recommend consuming your tea within 4-6 weeks after opening. Store it tightly sealed in a cool, dark place or in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

Are your teas suitable for people sensitive to caffeine?

Our KUAN tea has a low caffeine content, making it a good choice for those who prefer to limit caffeine intake. However, if you are highly sensitive, please consult your healthcare professional before consumption.

Do you offer any brewing accessories?

Currently, we focus on providing premium teas, but we plan to offer specially designed brewing accessories in the future to help you enjoy the perfect cup every time.

What is the best way to store green tea/matcha?

In order to keep its freshness, flavour and antioxidants to its best, we recommend you keep our matcha in our tin package, and store it in a refrigerator. However, matcha tends to absorb odours, hence if you keep it for a long time you can store them a freezer.
